Of all marketing channels, SEO is easily the most fluid and dynamic. The rules and best approaches to SEO are constantly evolving and changing.
To get the best results from SEO, you need to have a well-developed strategy with room to adapt to changes.
In our upcoming webinar we will help you navigate the current SEO landscape and help you put together an effective strategy.
SEO Strategy – Link Building
Building as many links as possible was one of the main objectives for any SEO strategy in the past. Although it’s still an important factor for rankings, the emphasis should be on the quality of links rather than quantity.
Look out for and remove poor links by regularly reviewing Google Analytics. Not only can these have a negative effect on rankings, Google can also impose penalty algorithms which can further harm your rankings. Bear in mind that you can ask Google not to take certain links into account when they are looking at your website.
SEO Strategy – Keywords
The way that keywords work as part of an overall SEO strategy has also changed. Google now uses an algorithm to identify related keyword topics rather than having to write content which always contains the exact keyword you want to rank for.
Google has also shifted emphasis away from a small number of short keywords towards looking at hundreds of long-tail variations on certain topics.
Make sure to avoid cramming lots of keywords onto your pages. ‘Keyword stuffing’ is something that Google really frowns upon. But remember to use any text associated with images to your advantage. This can involve adding keywords to captions and alt text and even using keywords to name image files.
SEO Strategy – Content
Your SEO strategy should be focused on producing and promoting good quality content, rather than simply writing posts around keywords. Investing in good content is also useful for building up blog and website traffic and generating leads.
It’s best to craft content that aims to identity and resolve any issues that customers have. This approach will lead you to a natural level of content, rather than focusing on writing a certain amount of words.
Rather than producing lots of pages with repetitive content, try to keep your content relevant and fresh across just a few pages.
